Wayne de Paor is an artist and musician based in Ireland. His practice is heavily influenced by his background in psychology alongside underground music, indie comics, and street art.
While primarily a painter, Wayne also sculpts, builds detailed miniature dioramas, and produces experimental music from his cozy studio in rural Ireland.
At the core of Wayne’s practice is a commitment to submitting to the creative process and acting as a conduit to channel images from the subconscious directly onto the canvas. As a result, his work resists easy categorization, constantly changing and evolving alongside his exploration of new techniques.
Wayne began his artistic journey working as a prop and set designer in a festival company before attending college in SETU where he studied Art and Design. A couple of exhibitions later he began working as a graphic designer before taking a career change. Wayne returned to college where he studied psychology. This eventually led to a career in forensic psychiatry. While he found the work rewarding Wayne yearned to return to the arts and apply the knowledge he had acquired over his different career paths to his artistic practice. He has exhibited in the Kilkenny Fringe Festival and was featured in Art rat Journal, while also having his work auctioned for charity.
